The Ten Voss Bottle

They made love on their bed, in their house. Even slept a while as they had time, just like the week before.  She asked to use the bathroom, he smirked and said sure. This is the third time and she still asked, not because she's humble, far from it, but because she wanted to see if the Ten Voss Shampoo was used since the last time she was there. Confirmation sparked curiosity and curiosity sparked a daring act, "Are you his wife?".  Written on a small piece of paper and screwed in the cap of the Shampoo and you could see some of the paper sticking out.

One week later, "yes I am, does he love you?" She stared at the note as she sat on cold bathroom floor with the cupboard door open and the bottle cap in her other hand.  Answers and questions criss-crossed in her head which only lead to more questions but at least there was one absolute, an invite to respond, as there was now a pen a small notepad tucked in the cupboard, for them to share.

"No.  How long have you been married"
"8 years.  Does he talk about me?"
"No but he seems sad.  If you're not happy why do you stay?"
"I don't know what else to do, I love him.  How did you meet him?"
"He knocked my bag over on the L train and the conversation never ended. Where are your pictures?"
"He takes them down I guess but we have this.  Why haven't you told him about us?"
"I don't think I should, why haven't you?
"He's been buying me gifts and taking me out, thank you"
"For what?!"
"He's trying so I guess I needed you in my life to save my marriage. I must sound like a fool."
"I must say I don't do this often but I haven't  judged you.  He does have a way of making me feel special, I'm glad he can do that with you again."
"Am I a fool, I'm here talking to my husband's concubine and thanking her!"
"You are right, this is wrong.  Do you still want to get a divorce?"
"Divorce and end up in another relationship where I'm not enough again and back to writing notes on my fucking bathroom floor?!"
"Men are dogs. LOL"
"LOL"

They continued their exchange for another four months, notes once a week under the cap of her Ten Voss Shampoo. One week he forgot to hide her pictures and she didn't ask as they had already bonded and was happy to finally see what she looked like. She now had to lie to him and acted like she didn't notice.  She was protecting her friend.

After 12 months they decided to meet in person at The Eleven Madison Park restaurant to celebrate their 1 year anniversary.  The waiter walked by and could only observe 2 good friends laughing and carrying on.  They bonded in their debacle but chose this mess over the other scenarios because ...at least here...they know.
